Hunter Douglas is the company best known for window coverings. Many customers ask for their products by name. Hunter Douglas has been the leader in window blind and shade innovation for the past 50 years with an astounding 40% or more market share. Many of their products are patented with registered trademarks such as Duette®, Silhouette®, Vignette®, and Country Woods®. Most other competitors produce their own “knock-offs” that compete with Hunter Douglas, but sacrifice quality in favor of a price point product. Levolor built their reputation years ago as a producer of quality mini blinds. Like Bali, they now rely on big box stores for most of their distribution. These days, they concentrate on mass production of mini blinds and 2” Faux Wood blinds for cost conscious customers. We have found their quality to be sub-par in the last few years with quirky operating mechanisms. Count on a limited service life with these products.
Norman Industries® is best known for producing the finest plantation shutter on the market at very reasonable prices. Whether hardwood or composite shutters are involved, their fit, finish, and installation are second to none. Using a multiple part painting process, finishes are furniture grade and resist color degradation over time when exposed to heat and sunlight. Louver widths range from 1-7/8” wide to 4-1/2” to accommodate most any design theme.
